WestJet reports October load factor of 79.7 per cent

Airline increases traffic by 18.7 per cent and achieves second-highest October load factor 

CALGARY, Nov. 10, 2016 /CNW/ - WestJet today announced October 2016 traffic results with a load factor of 79.7 per cent an increase of 2.6 percentage points year over year. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 18.7 per cent year over year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 14.8 per cent over the same period. The airline flew a record 1.8 million guests in October, a year-over-year increase of 14.2 per cent or approximately 226,000 additional guests.

"We are pleased with our sixth consecutive month of double-digit traffic growth as we achieved our second-highest October load factor and flew a record number of guests," said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky. "My sincere thanks go out to our almost 12,000 WestJetters for their continuing passion and commitment as we transition into the busy winter season."
