Airline to give away free flights and cash in 10-city newspaper contest

CALGARY, Sept. 10 /CNW/ -WestJet today announced details of its third national Fly Free Contest with 10 newspapers across Canada, offering readers and online users the chance to play their way to a getaway and win free flights and cash.

"WestJet is committed to providing our guests with a fun and friendly travel experience," says Lauri Feser, WestJet's Vice-President, Marketing. "And what is more fun than giving away free flights and cash?"

The Fly Free contest is easy to play. Running from September 10 to October 21, 2010, readers of participating newspapers can collect daily game pieces from their local newspaper to attach to a game board or play the contest online. At the end of each week, readers submit their completed game board for a chance to win one of six weekly travel prizes with WestJet or WestJet Vacations. With $750,000 in prizes to be won, there is a new chance to win each week.

This year, Fly Free winners will have more destinations to choose from than ever before. Prize winners can use their winnings to take a few weekend trips away or use it all on a dream vacation. With service to 71 destinations in Canada, the United States and the Caribbean, winning a holiday away is easier than ever.

"The Fly Free contest could not be possible without the enthusiastic participation of Postmedia Network newspapers, The Toronto Star and the Halifax Chronicle Herald," concludes Lauri Feser. "The circulation of the participating newspapers and their online readership allows us to connect with Canadians in 10 cities. As WestJet strives to be fun and friendly with our guests, the participating newspapers are valuable partners in making this Fly Free contest possible."

Kim Campbell, Vice-President of Publishing at Postmedia agrees. "Postmedia Network is thrilled to partner with WestJet for the third annual Fly Free promotion. Fly Free is without a doubt our largest and most successful national promotion. It's fun and offers our readers the opportunity to win a trip of lifetime."
