WestJet announces appointment of Cheryl Smith, Executive Vice-President & Chief Information Officer

CALGARY, March 11 /CNW/ - WestJet today announced the appointment of Cheryl Smith to the position of Executive Vice-President and Chief Information Officer.

Ms. Smith brings to WestJet over 30 years experience in information technology implementation, infrastructure and operation in a number of industries including energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, health care and consulting.

Ms. Smith has served in executive roles in Fortune 500 companies, including McKesson Corp, the largest health care company in the world, with 32,000 employees and current annual revenues of $108 billion. She has also held senior leadership positions at Ernst & Young, Honeywell Federal Systems, Verizon and KeySpan Energy.

Ms. Smith comes to WestJet from Smith and Associates in Virginia, U.S.A., where she leads a team of information technology experts. She will join WestJet shortly, pending completion of immigration formalities.
