WestJet launches Myrtle Beach service

Another first in WestJet's expanding reach

TORONTO, May 2, 2013 /CNW/ - WestJet launches new twice-weekly non-stop service today between Toronto and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The first flight leaves Toronto's Pearson International Airport at 9:30 a.m. EDT.

"We are very proud to extend service to another key U.S. destination," said Chris Avery, WestJet Vice-President, Network Planning, Alliances and Corporate Development.

"Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular destinations for Canadian vacationers, with more than 90 kilometres of picturesque beaches, world-class golf and warm southern hospitality," added Avery. "The baggage capacity of our 737 aircraft is ideal for those travelling with golf clubs and our first checked bag free is popular with leisure travellers. Guests are also able to find a variety of packaged vacations featuring ocean-front resorts, condos and hotels through WestJet Vacations."

"The addition of WestJet's service from Toronto to Myrtle Beach is great news as we are focused on further developing our Canadian air service market, ," said Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Brad Dean. "WestJet's commitment to the Myrtle Beach area reinforces potential growth of air service for Canadian visitors, and their convenient and frequent service will not only support travel from Toronto but will provide hassle-free connecting service from many other Canadian markets."
