Airline announces inaugural sponsorship of Carnaval de Québec

CALGARY, Jan. 30 /CNW/ - WestJet today announced its sponsorship of the
Carnaval de Québec, which runs from January 30 to February 15, 2009.
"WestJet is proud to be sponsoring Carnaval, celebrating our first year
of service to Quebec City. This world-renowned event is a great addition to
our Fun 'n Festival Series," says Richard Bartrem, WestJet Vice-President of
Culture and Communications. "WestJet is thrilled to be a part of local
festivals across the country. Since adding Quebec City to our roster of 30
Canadian destinations last May we've been looking forward to supporting
Carnaval."
At the heart of WestJet's partnership with Carnaval is the WestJet zip
line across the Plains of Abraham. The WestJet zip line makes history
thrilling as riders fly 500 feet across the plains where history was made 250
years ago.
"Carnaval is happy to partner with a prestigious company like WestJet.
This allows us to reach our goal of entertaining festivals goers by giving
them the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful aerial view of the Plains of Abraham
thanks to the WestJet zip line" says Gisèle Bourdeau, president of the 55th
Carnaval.
The WestJet Fun 'n Festivals Series connects WestJet's culture with
communities around the country. This year you'll find WestJet Fun 'n Festival
Series at events like Calgary Stampede, Just For Laughs Toronto Festival, Just
For Laughs Montreal Festival, Okanagan Wine Festivals, Halifax International
Buskers Festival, Folklorama in Winnipeg, Global ComedyFest in Vancouver and
Winterlude in Ottawa, to name a few. For updates on new upcoming events and
