CALGARY, June 9 /CNW/ - up! magazine, the in-flight publication for WestJet Airlines produced by RedPoint Media Group on a contract basis, won Gold at the National Magazine Awards on Friday.
Writer Chris Koentges's "L.A. Torn Mad with Footsteps," a story which appeared in the November 2008 issue, won the One-of-a-Kind category. Two other RedPoint publications also received a total of three honourable mentions, with two of these going to Avenue magazine for "Urban Brawl" by Craig Davidson in the Sports & Recreation category, which appeared in the November 2008 issue, and for "The Pour" wine column's "Born in the U.S.A." illustration by Karen Klassen in the Spot Illustration category, which appeared in the April 2008 issue. RedPoint Media's CalgaryInc magazine also won an honourable mention in the Best Single Issue category for September 2008's "Top 40 Under 40" issue.
