WestJet waives baggage fees for military personnel

Airline shows small gesture of appreciation for their service to Canada

CALGARY, Aug. 11, 2011 /CNW/ - WestJet announced that effective today the airline will waive baggage fees for Canadian military personnel travelling in uniform. Military personnel will be allowed to check a maximum of four bags at no additional charge. Oversize and overweight charges will also be waived.

"We are immensely proud of the men and women who serve our country," said Bob Cummings, WestJet Executive Vice-President, Sales, Marketing and Guest Experience. "We recognize that our Canadian military personnel are often required to travel across the country at a moment's notice and with a considerable amount of baggage.
