CALGARY, April 20, 2012 /CNW/ - In celebration of Earth Day on Sunday, WestJet will showcase its newest environmental innovation, a baggage tug powered by rechargeable lithium polymer batteries. The tug, which resembles a small tractor, pulls baggage carts to and from the aircraft.
Working with Corvus Energy, a Richmond-based technology supplier, WestJet is the first airline in the world to implement this new technology.
Media representatives are invited to WestJet's main campus, located at 22 Aerial Place NE on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. The tug will arrive at 11:15. Representatives from WestJet and Corvus Energy will be available for interviews. The tug will return to the airport at 12:30 that afternoon.
