Airline uses Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework to complete second report
CALGARY, Dec. 20, 2012 /CNW/ - WestJet today announced the completion of its second corporate social responsibility report, the first using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework to report on economic, environmental and social performance.
"This report demonstrates WestJet's ongoing commitment to sustainable growth and to our responsibilities to the communities we serve," commented Mike McNaney, WestJet Vice-President, Environment, Fuel and Government Relations. "Building off last year's 'Responsible Growth' report, we have made the commitment to further our reporting on the socially responsible elements of our airline. I would like to extend a warm thanks to the more than 9,000 WestJetters who deliver our caring brand in all aspects of our business."
WestJet reported against the GRI's key performance indicators in the areas of economic, environmental and social performance. The airline self-declared an application level C, which is intended for first-time reporting organizations. WestJet's GRI report was reviewed with select indicators assured by Deloitte and Touche LLP, thereby demonstrating our commitment to transparency and demonstrating a leading practice in our industry.
