TORONTO, June 5, 2013 /CNW/ - Bombardier Aerospace is ready to deliver WestJet's first Q400 NextGen aircraft and will celebrate with a ceremony at its Toronto site, alongside its employees and over 100 WestJetters, including Gregg Saretsky, President and Chief Executive Officer, WestJet; Ferio Pugliese, President, WestJet Encore, and Executive Vice-President, WestJet; Mike Arcamone, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft and Simon Roberts, Vice-President and General Manager, Turboprop Programs and the Toronto Site, Bombardier Aerospace, will also be on hand to welcome specially invited guests, including representatives from the federal, provincial and municipal governments.
WestJet has ordered 20 Q400 NextGen aircraft with options for an additional 25. The aircraft will be operated by the new regional carrier, WestJet Encore and will serve multiple destinations, beginning in Western Canada.
The Q400 NextGen turboprop airliner is a large, fast, quiet and fuel-efficient turboprop that provides an ideal balance of passenger comfort and operating economics with a reduced environmental footprint.
Bombardier and WestJet executives will be available for interviews and photo opportunities. Representatives of the media are also invited to tour the production facilities.
