Airline reports 11.5 per cent traffic growth and new record for monthly guests carried
CALGARY, Sept. 5, 2013 /CNW/ - WestJet today announced August 2013 traffic results with a load factor of 87.9 per cent. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 11.5 per cent year-over-year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 12.8 per cent over the same period. The airline flew 1.8 million guests in August, a year-over-year increase of 9.1 per cent or approximately 150,000 additional guests.
"We are very pleased with the double digit year-over-year traffic growth and strong load factor achieved in August, especially considering our almost 13 per cent capacity growth," said WestJet President and CEO Gregg Saretsky.
